Goals for 2008

December 29th, 2007 · 13 Comments

Surprisingly this list was pretty easy to compile. I think it took me about 15 minutes and a cup of coffee to come up with 10 things that I want to do next year.

So, in no particular order.

  1. Finish Caverns of Underkeep!
  2. Revamp the Peachysoft website, which means brushing up on some ajax and php.
  3. Get an A- average at uni, it’s my last semester so I might as well try for a reasonably high grade.
  4. Find a Job after uni with a software development company, Ideally with a $NZ 45K+ starting salary.
  5. Create ‘vBass’ a vst plugin for emulating a ‘real’ bass in audio sequencing software such as cubase or fruity loops. A friend of mine has been nagging me for such a product for a little while now, and it should be quite fun (and challenging.)
  6. Start work on a new game or game related project. Possibly in collaboration with others?
  7. Learn to draw. There are some interesting looking books on drawing fantasy characters and other things on Amazon, I think I’ll get a few of these and have a go at improving my drawing skills.
  8. Learn to play the drums.
  9. Have $5,000 in my savings account.
  10. Update this blog at least once a week.

I’m pretty confident I can get everything on the list done, that’s one of the reasons why I limited myself to just 10, there are a few other things I’d like to do, but I think I’ll just focus on the above for 2008.

Happy New Year everyone!!

    11. Learn to spell (or download the spell-check plug-in for Firefox)

    I’ve got $50 bucks saying you’ll only get 5/11 :-D

Correct spelling is for people who proof-read their posts before publishing…

Proof reading is for people who care… Though the Firefox plugin is rather nifty I must say…

    Happy new year to all!

New fun bug :D When you kill someone sometimes two bags of gold appear, one where they die, and one in a random spot. But when you pick up ones bag of gold, the other one disappears like fairy gold :(

I’ve also realised a second dead guy appears in another random spot from the extra moneys.

The “Giant Dragonfly” looks like a dude walking round on fire. Not sure if this is intentional…. Also, he leaves a blue line on the screen when he dies.

    Another new years resolution :
    Test then upload.

I’ve added a bunch of new AI behaviors and OnDeath effects, which tend to misbehave a bit.

Amulet of the serpent has the same graphic as the skull staff… :D

  • 9 Kristie // Jan 6, 2008 at 5:31 am

Actually, it’s different, but it still looks more like a skull staff than the skull staff does (eg. It’s a skull on the end of a staff). The skull staff looks a lot like the wand of mana regeneration…

Also, I have a problem with Mr so called “Bandit Mage”. He appears to be carrying a bow, but he just comes up to me and hits me, and occasionally fireballs me. Without ever shooting me. Like, what is up with that dude?

The “culture club” only does 1 damage, despite claiming to do 8-11 damage. I almost died!

Finished! V. Good Josh :) Though, I didn’t find any secret level. I accidentally finished before I meant too, thought there was another level down the stairs.

Sorry about filling your blog with a list of bugs….

Thanks, they’re all pretty simple to fix :) Mostly silly typos on my part.

Umm.. did you get to go through the portal? It might not have been in the build you played, the new one is up now - will get onto the bug fixes tomorrow morning.
